They say it is the small things that really matter. These tiny joys in life that make it all the worthwhile. They also say that appreciation is a gift and that happiness lies more in one’s attitude than in one’s present circumstance.
In need of a dose of happiness myself I have decided to compose a list. A list of small things that make me happy. (I am happier already, just thinking about it) I’d like to share this list with you because I believe happiness is contagious and I like to spread it around.
Of course, this is my list. Your list, if you decided to make one (which I wholeheartedly suggest) would be quite different I’m sure, but I set this as an example.

Peace be with you… “The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmicmeasures. It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.”

Well done and a good deed. We mostly choose to dwell on the pain and loss or the gain and pleasure in our lives… and the list of small pleasures can be nearly endless if we concentrate on them. Reminders help.
Can get confusing, though: Will a masochist’s list of small pleasures match my list of small pains? Does an ascetic HAVE small pleasures? Of course, perennial fools take small pleasures in fomenting such questions…

I found I didn’t notice the small things that made life sweet until I was going through a hard place…..and since my enlightenment my attitude has been to massage the awareness more. Make the small things larger. Enjoy.
